Before a run-of-river hydro project can be built it typically requires over 50 permits, licenses and approvals from 14 federal, provincial, local and First Nations regulatory bodies, including, but not limited to, the following:
- Environment Canada
- Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Habitat Protection Branch
- Integrated Land Management Bureau
- BC Ministry of Environment
- BC Ministry of Forests
- BC Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources
- BC Hydro
Hydromax Energy expects to obtain necessary permitting and approvals by October 2009. Following detailed engineering, and subject to permitting and approvals, construction is anticipated to start in October 2009 with completion in approximately two years.
